Highlights, Day 4: Commitments
Global Prayer Alongside Global Missions
Prayer was the last theme presented on the final day of the Congress. Laban Jjumba, founder of Intercessors for Uganda and Regional Coordinator of Intercessors for Africa shared on the clear link between prayer and missions. He challenged participants to not get trapped in choosing which side to devote to, but to embrace God’s heart for a going and praying church.
Etienne Piek of Global Day of Prayer also shared about the role of global prayer alongside global missions activity. He restated the commitment of “Global Day of Prayer” to work alongside the vision of Call2all all over the world. He concluded his session by daring delegates to do things they have never done before, in order to see results that have never been seen before.
Commitments to go where we are not, to evangelism, reaching UUPGs and oral learners
The Call2All leadership team led the congress through a time of commitment. Participants were encouraged to meet in their affinity groups or individually to reflect on all areas of need presented, and to respond to God by making a faith commitment.
After a period of prayerful consideration, participants took bold steps forward to present their commitment sheets before the Lord. Several individuals and groups stayed on their knees with eyes closed and held hands as they transacted with the Lord in a very deep and sincere way.
As the numbers were counted and praises offered to God for all that He had accomplished through the sessions, the testimonies also kept pouring in. One of the many faith declarations include that of Keith Strugnell, Director of Christian Broadcasting Network Africa committed to sharing the gospel with 700 million people by the year 2020 through television.
A New Day and a New Beginning
With hands all stretched out in surrender, Loren Cunningham, Co–founder of Youth With A Mission led the Congress in a prayer to seal the commitments made before the Lord.
Declaring that “It is a new day and a new beginning”, Bishop Kabachia of Movement for Africa National Initiatives also prayed a prayer of dedication on behalf of all, as he requested for all to raise their right hands towards heaven.
Ken Stravens, the National Director of Life Ministry (Campus Crusade for Christ) Kenya concluded the session saying “I am so overwhelmed by what God is doing in our midst! The goals we have set are amazing, and I look forward to what God wants to do with us as a result of this Congress”.
Actual commitment numbers will be posted shortly.
