Reporting LIVE From The Orlando Congress
The inaugural Call2All Congress has now begun!
Highlights from the first day of the Congress
The buzz of Registration, introductions and reunions, blended with great expectation has set a tone for the momentous Call2all North American Global Congress. 163 Organizational Presidents, Leaders and CEOs along with some 550 key Christian leaders and experts have convened in Orlando, Florida. The sole purpose of the 4-day consultation is to plan, strategize and partner for the completion of the great commission.
Among other unique elements, history is being made as the Prayer and Missions movements have literally come together to deliberate on unreached people groups and all spheres of society in order to disciple the nations.
“With the same Lord, and the same cause and the same world, we have to work together to reach the lost” said Lynn Green, International Chairman of Youth with a Mission.
This is the first of 40 congresses that will be held in different regions of the world between now and 2010. In his opening statement, Mark Anderson, the convener of the congress, reminded the participants of the Great Commission Call, placing emphasis on “every person and every generation. He further explained that the congress needs to start by a commitment to holiness, integrity and purity, before talking about strategy.
Dr. James Robison (LIFE TODAY TV ministry) gave a straight talk. He presented a sobering message on “Sexual Purity” especially for highly visible Christian leaders. Larry Stockstill (Senior Pastor of World Prayer Centre) built on that with a message titled “The 5 dysfunctions of the North American Church”. The result was a humble response where many leaders knelt before the Lord seeking God’s grace.
The evening session welcomed the celebration of nations and cultures during worship and in various presentations. Paul Fleischmann (National Network of Youth Ministries) shared about several youth movements, along with three other youth leaders, challenging the participants to focus on the youth. Steve Douglass ( president of Campus Crusade for Christ) gave a positive update on the state of the gospel and in closing, Loren Cunningham (Founder of YWAM) posed the question “can we finish the task?” Through a series of testimonies of what God is doing all over the world, he answered the question by saying “the whole world could be reached in our life time”.
“I am anxiously waiting for the workshops to start tomorrow, especially the Church planting discussion” said Femi Oladele, a pastor from Nigeria.
